The process of valorising and promoting the environment continues with various projects aimed at the territory. The Botricello City Council has decided to join two particularly important initiatives: the European Week for Waste Reduction and the Permanent Forum of the Regional Marine Parks of Calabria.
These are important initiatives that aim to enhance the environment in all its aspects. As for the European Week for Waste Reduction, it represents the largest campaign in Europe to promote waste reduction and encourage sustainable behavior. The planned theme in 2025 is “Turn on value, turn off waste”, with a particular focus on e-waste which contains potentially harmful materials, but also offers opportunities for the recovery of essential raw materials.
This project was promoted by the European Commission with the primary objective of raising awareness among institutions and consumers about waste prevention strategies and policies. The Municipal Administration of Botricello has joined, as explained by the Mayor Saverio Simone Puccio, “in the conviction of the need to stimulate the dissemination of knowledge in the environmental field and encourage the adoption of responsible measures to make an effective contribution to the reduction of the production and abandonment of waste and to the protection of the territory”.
Strategy that aligns with membership of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism and the Regional Marine Parks Forum. This is a certification path that allows you to improve the management of protected areas for the development of sustainable tourism. It is therefore fundamental to preserve and protect the protected areas, of which Botricello is part.
The Municipal Administration, as explained by Mayor Puccio, “is committed to respecting the principles of the Charter and giving its contribution in the development and application of the Action Plan for sustainable tourism in protected areas, encouraging greater integration and collaboration with all interested parties, including local tourism operators. In the last two months we have marked an important step forward which outlines the path of sustainable development on which we have aimed since the beginning of the legislature”.
