“Epicentro” trial in Reggio Calabria: 11 defendants and 8 civil parties in the appeal trial against the ‘Ndrangheta gangs

Eleven defendants and eight civil parties. The “Epicentro” second degree trial, the investigation par excellence of the anti-mafia prosecutor’s office which hit the gangs that allegedly operated in the city center, will start on November 5th, before the second section of the Court of Appeal presided over by doctor Alfredo Sicuro. Among the civil parties are the Calabria Region, the Municipalities of Reggio and Villa San Giovanni, the metropolitan city, the Fai (Federation of Italian anti-racketeering and anti-usury associations), ANCE (the association of Reggio builders), the entrepreneurs who would have ended up in the crosshairs of the clans. In the Court of Appeal in addition to the ten people convicted by the Collegiate Court – Domenico Bruno, Roberto Smeriglio, Alessio Smeriglio, Salvatore Laganà, Giuseppe Condello, Salvatore Giuseppe Molinetti, Alfonso Molinetti (born in 1995), Giovanni Domenico Rugolino
30 years old, Alessio D’Agostino, Francesco Minniti; and Francesco Vazzana, against whom the Prosecutor’s Office appealed the acquittal obtained at first instance. Four of the five acquitted by the Court definitively exit the trial.
