Nadia Battocletti is in the history of European athletics. The Italian won gold at the European cross country championships in Antalya, Türkiye. Battocletti, in addition to being the first Italian to win the overall continental gold, is the first European in 30 editions to have triumphed in all three categories, under 20, under 23 and overall.

Battocletti, with a perfect race conduct once again from a technical-tactical point of view, at the ‘Dokumapark’ of the Turkish city, won in 25’43, preceding the German Konstanze Klosterhalfen by 11 seconds and the Turkish Yasemin Can by 18 which stood out throughout the race. This season Battocletti won two golds at the European Championships in Rome (5000 and 10,000 metres) and Olympic silver in the 10,000 meters at the Paris Olympics. In addition to Battocletti’s gold, Italy also won the team classification based on the placings of the other Italians.
