«I knew that Gose would start strong, but I knew I had to wait: that’s how it happened, I’m happy. I always try to stay consistent, winning new European titles is increasingly important. Reconfirming yourself is the thing that gives you the most satisfaction. Today was a beautiful day, we started off on the right foot yesterday and we’re all getting into gear.” These are the words of Simona Quadarella, speaking to Rai, after her victory in the 800 freestyle at the European Championships in Paris, her fourth consecutive continental title.
