The unstoppable race in fuel prices has led to new records in prices at the pump, with diesel fuel now reaching 2.7 euros per liter in some cases. This was reported by Codacons, which, based on the official data communicated between yesterday and today by the plants scattered along the Peninsula and published on the appropriate Mimit website, has created a regional map of fuel prices.
The records at the self service
As regards self-service, the highest prices in Italy are charged by a distributor in Milan, which sells petrol at 2.635 euros per liter and diesel at 2.695 euros per litre; again in the Lombardy capital, another plant sells diesel at 2.442 euros per litre. The second highest price is recorded in Pantelleria, where diesel costs 2,599 euros per liter and petrol 2,499 euros per litre. On the podium, in third place, two other islands: in Ponza and Giglio Island a liter of diesel costs 2,399 euros. The ranking continues with Scafati (Salerno), where self-service diesel costs 2,398 euros per litre, then Stresa (Verbania) at 2,389 euros, Procida (Naples) at 2,380 euros and Simeri Crichi (Catanzaro) at 2,349 euros per litre.
On the motorway the situation is worse
The situation is even worse on the motorway, where Codacons analyzed the prices in serviced mode route by route. Here diesel prices reach close to 2.7 euros per litre: this is the case of the A21 Turin-Piacenza, where a liter of diesel costs 2,699 euros, while on the A4 Venice-Trieste it reaches 2,682 euros per liter and on the A22 Brennero-Modena it costs 2,609 euros. For petrol, the highest price served is recorded on the A21 (2,549 euros per litre), then on the A28 (2,489 euros) and on the A1, A12 and A14 (2,449 euros per litre).
The Codacons appeal
«Beyond the extreme cases recorded on the urban and motorway networks, the price increases at the pump will have serious effects on the summer holidays of Italians – denounces the association -. In this period of the year, in fact, family travel and supplies to distributors increase, and for this reason the government must urgently intervene to calm the prices of petrol and diesel by adopting a new cut in excise duties to be applied until the end of August, when there will be the summer counter-exodus”.
