The Court of Cassation declared the appeals presented by the four defendants inadmissible, confirming the sentence issued by the Court of Appeal of Catanzaro and in particular the penalties against Antonio Pio Berlingieri of 5 years 6 months and a fine of 2 thousand euros; Cosimo Berlingiere to 13 years and 6 months in prison; Tonino Bevilacqua to 13 years and 4 months of imprisonment and Domenico Amato: to 10 years and one month of imprisonment.
The four defendants, all belonging to the Roma community, are accused of extortion, personal injury and damage. Crimes aggravated by the mafia method. The disputed facts date back to the night of January 30, 2022, the four, after drinking inside the club, at the owner’s request to pay the bill, attacked the manager and employees. In particular, the four subjects threatened the owner of the bar, as he had asked them to pay for the drinks they had consumed shortly before. According to the prosecution, they slapped and punched the employees, threw the plexiglass and the cash register at them, punched the owner of the bar in the chest and threw the ice cream fridge on the floor.
