The first free practice session on the Las Vegas track on the Friday of the United States Grand Prix ends after just about ten minutes. What caused the red flag and the subsequent suspension of the session was a manhole that blew on the track and which, on the finishing straight, damaged Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari. The Spanish driver, heading towards the end of the lap, was taken by surprise by the loud bang which raised his car until it caused damage to the floor and activated the Ferrari engine’s auto stop system.
