There were moments of strong apprehension this afternoon at the Cineteatro Manfroce in Palmi. While carrying out the activities, a technical unexpected event caused three people to be injured, fortunately not seriously. The municipal administration promptly released a note to clarify the dynamics of the accident and reassure citizens.

The accident and those involved

According to initial reconstructions, the episode involved a man, a woman and a child. The outcome, although it could have been worse, speaks of minor consequences for the three unfortunates. The solidarity expressed by the Municipality was immediate: “We express sincere regret and closeness to the people involved”, we read in the official statement that followed the event.

Non-structural failure: the dynamics

The damage involved the detachment of a limited portion of a false ceiling covering panel. The technical authorities were keen to point out that the accident did not affect the structural elements of the building, thus excluding the risk of more extensive collapses. However, to guarantee the maximum safety of citizens, the structure was immediately closed to the public as a completely precautionary measure.

A structure that has recently undergone restyling

The Cineteatro Manfroce represents a cultural reference point for Palmi, returned to the community only a few years ago after a long and complex renovation. The municipal body underlined how the building has been “regularly subjected to all the checks required by current legislation” since its reopening, making today’s episode an event as unexpected as it is isolated.

Towards the restoration of security

The priority now remains reopening quickly. In fact, the technical activities necessary to verify the status of the remaining panels and proceed with the restoration work have already been started. The objective declared by the administration is to return the theater to public use “as soon as possible and above all in total safety”, once the absence of any further risk has been ascertained.
