At dawn today the Carabinieri of the Vibo Valentia Company, with the support of the Heliported Hunters Squadron of Calabria, executed a precautionary custody order in prison against a 20-year-old and a 19-year-old, suspected of the crimes of attempted premeditated murder and illegal possession of a firearm.

The provision was issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Vibo Valentia at the request of the local prosecutor’s office led by the prosecutor Camillo Falvo, at the end of the investigative activity launched following the wounding of the 20-year-old son of a municipal councilor of Filandari. The young man had been injured in the thigh by a gunshot.

The investigations, activated after the report received from the Emergency Department of the Vibo Valentia hospital, where the victim had gone, were conducted with the support of the Scientific Investigations Section of the Investigative Unit, and made it possible to outline a coherent circumstantial framework, overcoming the victim’s lack of collaboration.

The elements acquired have in fact made it possible to identify the two suspects as the alleged perpetrators of the action committed at the victim’s home, where – after an altercation – at least four shots were fired, one of which hit the young man in the leg.

From the findings acquired, it emerged that the episode was based on a personal dispute, an element considered completely unrelated to the logic of organized crime.

The arrested persons were transferred to the Vibo Valentia prison and placed at the disposal of the prosecuting Judicial Authority while further scientific investigations continue by the RIS of Messina aimed at crystallizing the evidentiary framework.
