With great emotion the actress Valeria Solarinogodmother of the 71st edition of the Taormina Film Festival, has officially started the film event which also this year turns on the lights on the stage of the Antico Theater of Taormina.
Michael Douglasthe protagonist of the inaugural evening, received a prestigious recognition. The actor, welcomed with a standing ovation, was celebrated through a sequence of images taken from the films that have marked his career. In fact, the famous actor had been missing from Taormina for 21 years.
To open the evening musically was the powerful and refined voice of Nina Zilliwho enchanted the audience of the ancient theater with a live performance. Also present on the red carpet, the singer shared her deep bond with music and cinema.
The first screening of the Festival saw the presentation, out of competition, of the film “Ballerina” of the director Lena Wisemanwho excited the public with an intense and visually powerful story.
Today will open with a panel entitled “Taormina celebrates women and not the divers. Female identity between strength and truth”, a moment of reflection and comparison on the representation of femininity in the world of cinema. Among the protagonists of the meeting, the women rewarded in the inaugural evening: Lucrezia Guidone, Alessandra Mastronardi and the famous costume designer Sandy Powell.
