Day of intense work for the Fire Brigade of the Provincial Command of Crotone, also engaged today in over twenty interventions for large vegetation fires that have affected different areas of the provincial territory.

Numerous interventions of stability were added to the extinguishing operations to structures exposed to the strong wind, such as street lamps, fixtures and covers, made unstable by the gusts that have been interested in the Calabrian ionic band for days.

Two in particular the episodes that required an extraordinary commitment. The first occurred in Isola di Capo Rizzuto, where the flames approached homes. The timely intervention of the Fire Brigade teams has made it possible to contain the stake and prevent it from propagating towards the houses, avoiding more serious consequences.

The second episode concerned a vast fire broke out along the highway 106, in San Leonardo di Cutro. Here the flames, fed by the wind, exceeded the roadway, approaching the Serenè village.
Four means of the firefighters intervened on the spot, who managed to circumvent and tame the fire front after hours of work.

During the shutdown operations, due to the dense smoke and the height of the flames, the state road 106 was temporarily closed to traffic. The management of the road network and the safety of the area were coordinated by the traffic police, present on the spot.

For the reclamation of the area concerned, a team of volunteers from Calabria Verde also intervened in support, engaged in the extinguishing operations of the residual outbreaks and in the control of the territory.

The Provincial Command of the Crotone Fire Brigade continues to monitor the situation, in consideration of the persistence of weather conditions characterized by strong wind and high temperatures, which favor the risk of new fires.
