The first aid has begun to arrive for thousands of displaced people on the Indonesian island of Flores, hit by a strong earthquake which caused at least 48 deaths, dozens of injuries and damage to hundreds of homes and buildings. Around 5,000 people left their homes after the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that hit the island on Saturday morning. In the following hours, at least 341 aftershocks were recorded, according to Berton Suar Pelita Panjaitan, spokesperson for the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB). In some areas there is still a lack of electricity and telephone connections, while at least one road used to reach the affected areas remains impassable
