Fear at dawn on the A2 “of the Mediterranean” motorway, in a south direction, where this morning, around 6 am, a truck that transported refrigerators suddenly caught fire near the Scilla junction. The vehicle was completely destroyed.
Upon arrival of the firefighters of the detachment of Villa San Giovanni, the entire vehicle was already surrounded by flames. The shutdown operations were made particularly complex and requested the support of two 6,000 liter trucks each, which came from the commands of Palmi and Reggio Calabria.
Fortunately, the driver of the truck managed to abandon the vehicle in time and remained unharmed. At the moment, the causes of the fire is not yet clear nor the ways in which the flames have spread.
The intervention of the firefighters continued for about an hour. Once the fire is turned off, the vehicle was secured and subsequently removed and transported to a dedicated area. The accident caused some inconvenience to vehicular traffic along the section concerned.
