More stringent criteria for the evaluation of foreign operators willing to work in our country’s hospitals. They are foreseen by an amendment to the bill for the reorganization of health professions which was approved in recent days in Montecitorio, in the Social Affairs commission. In the text presented by the Northern League MP Erik Umberto Pretto, reference is made to the obligation, for healthcare professionals authorized to temporarily practice their professional activity in derogation from the recognition of professional healthcare qualifications obtained abroad, to register in one of the extraordinary special lists corresponding to each profile relating to the healthcare professions provided for by Italian law. The same amendment also introduces the obligation of prior assessment of the necessary linguistic knowledge, to be carried out at the territorially competent Order, as a necessary requirement for starting or continuing work in derogation, in order to guarantee the safety of care and adequate communication with patients.
