The Carabinieri of Barcellona and Milazzo, as part of an intensification of territorial control services ordered by the provincial command of Messina they arrested four people from the Catania area flagrantly for “aggravated theft in competition”.
The arrest took place yesterday night during the search for a stolen car, the theft of which had been reported to the operations center of the Carabinieri company of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto in the Santa Lucia del Mela area.
The intervention: In Santa Lucia del Mela, a crew from the Radiomobile section of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto and a patrol from the Montalbano Elicona station intercepted and blocked three individuals. These were located in the vicinity of an electrical system installation company, intent on removing copper cables, part of which had already been loaded on board a car rented in Catania..
The interception of the fourth subject: At the same time, in the neighboring municipality of San Filippo del Mela, a crew from the Milazzo Radiomobile Section and a patrol from the local station intercepted the stolen car for which the report had been issued. A fourth person was surprised on board the vehicle, in possession of additional copper cables.
Stolen goods and vehicles recovered: The investigations carried out made it possible to trace all those arrested to the same criminal episode. The operation allowed the recovery of approximately 800 meters of copper cableswhose total value is estimated at approximately 5,000 euros. Additionally, the stolen vehicle was recovered. Two of the four arrested already had police records. Those arrested were locked up in Barcelona prison.
