An emotion that passes through sport, reaches institutions and infects the world of music. The Formula 1 world title won by Andrea Kimi Antonelli triggers a celebration of messages and congratulations. Among the most involved voices is that of Valentino Rossi, who in connection with Sky Sport talks about the joy of having followed the Mercedes driver’s feat: «It moved me very much», he says. “It’s one of those moments that reminds you where you are.” The champion from Tavullia above all recognizes the weight of Antonelli’s talent in winning the World Championship. «The Mercedes was the best car but it didn’t dominate», he observes, before underlining: «A lot of this championship is thanks to it». What also impressed him was the difference in performance compared to his teammate.
Valentino Rossi: «I like rooting for him»
Rossi says he began to be interested in Antonelli when he was still racing karts, also intrigued by that name which recalls another Formula 1 champion: «I heard about him also thanks to the name Kimi which recalls Kimi Raikkonen and I also began to follow him on karts». Since then the attention has turned into declared cheering, accompanied by a challenging prediction: «He can become one of the strongest drivers in history. I like to come together and I like to cheer for him.”
Meloni and Abodi: Italian talent and pride
The conquest of the title also finds space in the messages of the institutions. «Kimi Antonelli is world champion!», writes Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on social media, celebrating the milestone achieved at the age of twenty and the record of youngest world champion in the history of Formula 1. «A success that brings an Italian driver back to the top of the world, rewarding talent, commitment, determination and dedication. A reason for great pride for our nation.”
The Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi recalls the 73 years that have passed since Alberto Ascari’s last title and describes Antonelli as a champion capable of combining “crystalline talent”, “fierce determination” and “genuine simplicity”. For Abodi, the company also offers a starting point for supporting the new generations: «Kimi is confirmation that in Italy, in sport and beyond, we have young people of extraordinary value: we must know how to recognise, accompany and support them, creating the conditions so that they can express all their talent». A thank you that the minister extends to the family and to those who contributed to the success.
Vasco’s party: «Brilliant, extraordinary, crazy»
Vasco Rossi joins the collective enthusiasm, choosing three adjectives for the Mercedes driver: «Brilliant, extraordinary, crazy». In his social message there is also pride in our common Emilian roots: “You make us infinitely proud of being Italian!”. The youngest Formula 1 world champion, recalls the rocker, is «an Italian boy of twenty, Emiliano DOC from Casalecchio!».
