In recent days, the Carabinieri of the Operational Unit of the Messina Centro Company arrested a 47-year-old in flagrante delicto, already known to the police, held responsible for “detention for the purpose of dealing narcotic substances”.
During a checkpoint set up near the embarkation point for Calabria, the Carabinieri stopped a flatbed van that had just disembarked from the ferry coming from Villa San Giovanni, but the impatient and nervous attitude adopted by the driver led the military to investigate further.
In fact, during the personal and vehicular search carried out by the military, a specially created false bottom was discovered in the cargo box of the vehicle, inside which over 10 kilograms of marijuana were carefully packaged and sealed in 18 heat-sealed plastic bags, potentially usable to make hundreds of doses to be placed in drug dealing areas.
The man was then arrested and the drugs handed over to the Messina RIS Carabinieri for laboratory analysis. Having completed the formalities, the arrested person was restricted to the Messina Gazzi prison at the disposal of the judicial authorities, awaiting the validation hearing.
