FS Group, first quarter 2024: operating revenues over 4 billion euros (+25%), investments exceed 3 billion euros (+49%), 3,000 hires

The FS Group presented the results for the first three months of 2024 which recorded a significant increase in operating revenues to over 4 billion euros and a growth in technical investments that exceeded 3 billion euros, +49% compared to the same period of 2023.

“The FS Group closed the first quarter of 2024 with a positive performance of the main economic-financial indicatorscommented Luigi Ferraris, CEO of the FS Italiane Groupand marked a decisive acceleration of technical investments, an increase of approximately 50% compared to the figure recorded in the same period of 2023. The increase in revenues was driven by solid operational performances and the recovery in volumes of passengers transported in all business segments of the Passenger Hub with double-digit growth in High Speed. The urban regeneration program of the Urban Center also contributed to the results, which in the first three months of 2024 completed the sale of the disused railway yards of Milan Farini and San Cristoforo.”

Operating revenues recorded an increase of 820 million euros, mainly due to the growth of transport services (+177 million euros), Infrastructure services (+160 million euros), Other revenues from services (+515 million of Euro).

Revenues from transport services, equal to 2.1 billion eurosrecorded growth of 177 million euros compared to the first quarter of 2023, both nationally and internationally, a direct consequence of operational management and the recovery in traveler demand volumes km.

THE Revenues from infrastructure services, equal to 1 billion euros, recorded an increase of approximately 19% compared to the previous period (+160 million euros) due to the growth in revenues in the road sector mainly attributable to Anas' management services.

The Other revenues from services, equal to 616 million euros, increase by 515 million euros. The change is mainly due to the sale of the Milano Farini airport carried out by FS Sistemi Urbani as part of the Program Agreement signed with the Municipality of Milan.

L'EBITDA it increased by 63 million euros, equal to +19% compared to the first quarter of 2023 due mainly to the dynamics of revenue growth in all business components.

On the front of the Investments, the first quarter of 2024 confirms the Group's central role in supporting the national industrial system. The Group has in fact developed and managed an overall level of technical investments equal to 3.2 billion euros (98% in Italy), with a growth of 49% compared to the first quarter of 2023, of which 2.8 billion euros relating to railway and road infrastructure, including, in particular, the following works: the Turin high-speed line -Milan-Naples, Naples-Bari, the AV/AC Verona-Padua line runs Verona-Vicenza, the Milan-Verona runs Brescia-Verona and the Terzo Valico dei Giovi stretch.

There Net Financial Positionequal to 11.7 billion eurosrecords an increase of 480 million euros compared to 31 December 2023, due to the greater use of short-term funding aimed at supporting the investment cycle of the FS Group.

THE employees of the FS Group pass to 93,900 units as of March 31, 2024 from 92,446 in December 2023, with a turnover determined by approximately 3,000 hires, mainly due to generational turnover.
