With global critical issues in fuel supplies «we are heading into a season where domestic tourism will probably prevail. But the situation is evolving and we are monitoring it continuously. The whole government is now focused on this global emergency and I am sure that this crisis will be faced in the best possible way.”

The new Minister of Tourism Gianmarco Mazzi said this at Veronafiere, on the sidelines of the inauguration of Vinitaly. Regarding wine, Mazzi said: «I certainly believe in wine tourism, a valid contribution to a sector that is a pillar of the Italian economy because it is worth 13% of the GDP and has an economic impact of 240 billion euros. And wine tourism – underlined Minister Mazzi – is worth around three billion euros, and is constantly growing. I really believe in the development of traveling to wine tourism districts and I think that if we managed to open our cellars even more we could have an economic advantage linked to direct sales, savings on bottle shipments and profits from the hospitality service. Furthermore, bringing tourists to territories that are outside of congested centers is an excellent response to overtourism” he concluded.
