Flavio Cobolli is extraordinary as he knocks out the defending champion Alexander Zverev in two sets and wins a place in the final of the «Bmw Open», ATP 500 worth 2,561,110 euros, taking place on the red clay courts of the Iphitos Tennis Club in Munich, Germany.

Dominant performance against the defending champion

A sumptuous performance from the 23-year-old Roman, number 16 in the world and fourth seeding favourite, who prevailed 6-3 6-3 after an hour and 9 minutes of play, stopping Zverev’s run towards his fourth title in Bavaria.

Cobolli, who had lost both previous matches with the German (eighth at Roland Garros and fourth at Halle in 2025), therefore reached his fifth career final on the major circuit.

Tomorrow the final, then the dedication

Tomorrow, against the winner of the match between second seed Ben Shelton and qualifier Alex Molcan, the Italian tennis player will be looking for his fourth seal after winning last season in Bucharest and Hamburg and last February in Acapulco.

At the end of the semi-final, however, the joy gave way to emotion: Cobolli burst into tears remembering a 13-year-old friend who tragically passed away yesterday, to whom he wanted to dedicate the victory.
