According to Schlein, faced with the price increases linked to the new phase of international tension it is necessary to intervene with immediate measures to support citizens and businesses.
The mobile excise tax proposal
«Given the stellar increases caused by the new war – explains the leader of the Democratic Party – it is necessary to return the extra VAT on petrol and diesel to citizens to immediately reduce their costs, activating the mobile excise duty tool, which has been in force for some time but never applied».
According to the Democratic Party, the mechanism would make it possible to compensate for the increase in fuel prices by using the greater tax revenue deriving from the increase in prices.
The appeal to the government
The dem secretary then made an appeal to the executive led by Giorgia Meloni.
