As part of “intense diplomatic efforts on the peace plan for Ukraine on the sidelines of the G20,” European Council President Antonio Costa will today bring together European leaders and allies present at the summit — including France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Norway, Canada, Japan, Australia, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands and Spain — to discuss the path forward on Ukraine.

All 27 EU leaders will also meet on the sidelines of the EU-AU summit scheduled in Luanda on 24 and 25 November.

According to an EU official, the meeting scheduled today will be held in the afternoon. Yesterday the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the President of the EU Council Antonio Costa had a telephone call with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, followed by a meeting with the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Johannesburg. This morning Costa and von der Leyen also met with French President Emmanuel Macron.

«Italy is ready to work with its European and American partners to achieve a just peace, just as Italy is already contributing in the Middle East to consolidate a result that is fragile but still very important». Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said this while speaking at the G20, at the first working session. (
