The 71st Taormina Film Festival is preparing to welcome one of the greatest icons of international cinema: Geoffrey RushAustralian Oscar -winning actor, he will be a guest of honor of the review to present his latest film, The rule of jenny pendirected by James Ashcroft. The work, an intense psychological horror, will be projected to Italian preview within the official section in competition.
Rush will also receive the Taormina Excellence Awardcareer recognition that will be delivered in the suggestive setting of the ancient theater. The award ceremony will celebrate the artistic journey of an interpreter who has been able to sweep with skill between cinema and theater, winning an Oscar, three Bafta, two Golden Globe, a Tony Award, an Emmy and numerous other prizes.
Among his best known roles, those in Shine, The king’s speech, The best offer of Tornatore and in the saga of Pirates of the Caribbean in the role of the Barbossa captain.
“We are honored to welcome an artist of the caliber of Geoffrey Rush,” said the artistic director Tiziana Roccaunderlining how his presence represents a tribute to the greatness of acting.
