The inhabitants of Ginostra, a tiny village on the slopes of Stromboli, wanted to remember, this morning, Pippo Baudo with a moment of prayer in the church recently reopened for worship. It was Pippo Baudo, in 2002, during the Sanremo Festival of that year, which, hosting Gianluca Giuffrè’s phone call, one of the 30 inhabitants of the hamlet, brought the appeals of the residents to the national and international limelight asking for the electrification of the village. That phone call, followed by 15 million viewers, was of great media impact and within two years (2004) on the day of the Sanremo Festival, Ginostra turned on the first bulb. Since then Pippo Baudo has entered the history of Ginostra and his inhabitants today cry him like a father.
