A morning dedicated to prevention, solidarity and health animated Girifalco on the occasion of Lions Day, the “Health Day” promoted by Lions International – District 108YA, in collaboration with the Regional Health Service and local health institutions.

Free screening and services to citizens

In the setting of Girifalco, over 200 citizens were able to take advantage of free screenings which touched on numerous areas of prevention: from vision to diabetes, from cardiology with ultrasound of the supra-aortic trunks to orthopedics for the youngest, up to oncological and audiometric dental exams. Great attention was also paid to the neuropsychological sphere and parenting support, with the presence of dedicated specialists.

The fundamental role of healthcare personnel

What made this important initiative possible was above all the extraordinary commitment of the doctors and healthcare workers involved. With professionalism, availability and a spirit of service, they offered their time and skills to the community, demonstrating how local medicine and prevention can make a difference in people’s lives. Their work, often silent but fundamental, was the true beating heart of the day.

The organizational commitment of the Lions

No less important was the contribution of the Lions volunteers, who took care of every organizational detail with precision and enthusiasm. From the management of reservations to the reception at the information gazebo in Piazza Umberto I, up to the coordination of the various health stations, their commitment was crucial to the success of the event. Once again, the Lions have demonstrated a great ability to translate the values of service and solidarity into concrete actions for the benefit of the community.

A warm response from the community

The response from the population was warm and participatory: many citizens of all ages joined with interest, recognizing the importance of an initiative that brought healthcare closer to people. The widespread appreciation demonstrates how events like this are not only useful, but also necessary to promote a culture of prevention and well-being.

A model of virtuous collaboration

A day, therefore, which left a positive mark on the entire community of Girifalco, thanks to the synergy between institutions, doctors and volunteers. A virtuous example of collaboration that deserves to be valued and, hopefully, replicated.
