Fredrik Dversnes Lavik wins the 15th stage of the 2026 Giro d’Italia, the 157 kilometer Voghera-Milan, in a sprint, crowning an unexpected escape from afar. No group finish, the 29-year-old Norwegian rider outwitted the Italians Mirco Maestri (Team Polti VisitMalta) and Martin Marcellusi (Bardiani CSF) in the four-man sprint, even the sprinters who were unable to mend the gap were surprised.

Today’s section was essentially flat and marked by the breakaway of the day which started after a few kilometres. Marcellusi, Lavik, Maestri and Mattia Bais (Team Polti VisitMalta) dictated the pace in the lead, but never gained more than 2’30”. In fact, the group managed from afar the four pacesetters who shared the points and bonuses for the flying finish line in Pavia and the Red Bull kilometre. After a series of comparisons with the group, the jury decided to please the runners and neutralize the times for safety reasons not at -5 kilometres, as usual, but at -16.3km, or the last lap of the Milanese circuit.

The final chase was useless, the four fugitives fought for victory, with Lavik taking his first career victory in the Giro. Nothing changes regarding the pink jersey, the Danish Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) will go into the last day of rest at the top of the general classification. On Tuesday we will start again with the 16th stage, the 113 kilometer Bellinzona-Carì.
