First day of voting today in Milazzo for the election of the mayor and the renewal of the city council. Already in the early hours of the morning, a certain movement was noticed in front of the city’s polling stations, with many voters choosing to go to the polls immediately, taking advantage of the opening set for 7am.

In the morning, four of the candidates for the office of mayor went to vote, all welcomed by those present with handshakes, smiles and some brief exchanges. Michele Vacca voted in section 24 of the Zirilli school; Lorenzo Italiano in section 18 of the Trimboli school in San Giovanni, the neighborhood where he lives; Peppe Falliti expressed his preference in section 15 of the Luigi Rizzo middle school, reaching the polling station by bicycle; Carmelo Torre voted in section 10 of Zirilli.

The outgoing mayor Pippo Midili instead showed up in the afternoon at section 23 of the Zirilli middle school, also smiling and accompanied by some supporters.

Laura Castelli, however, did not vote, not being a resident of the municipality of Milazzo.

The polling stations will remain operational until 11pm this evening and will reopen tomorrow, Monday 25 May, from 7am to 3pm to allow voters to express their preference.
