“Gotha” trial in Reggio: hearing postponed to February 26

The first hearing relating to the “Ghota” trial with the ordinary rite before the Court of Appeal of Reggio Calabria has been postponed until February 26, due to an abstention of the lawyers of the Criminal Chamber of the judicial district. After approximately three and a half years from the conclusion of the first instance hearing, fifteen people had been summoned today to answer, for various reasons, for mafia association, external competition, secret associationa trial resulting from an investigation by the anti-mafia district prosecutor’s office against the so-called “reserved area of ​​the ‘ndrangheta”, which identified, alongside the alleged leaders of the city’s gangs – the “Mandamento di Centro” – a group made up of representatives of the institutions , entrepreneurs and professionals, who – according to the accusations – decided “business deals”, especially in the public works sector, and determined careers in local authorities.
