Scuderia Gretaracing has announced the entry of Salvatore Mondino, a Calabrian driver born in 1999, who will strengthen the uphill speed department in view of the 2026 racing season.
From the beginnings to the tricolor titles
Mondino approached motorsport at the age of seven with karting, and then made his debut in uphill speed in 2019 at the wheel of a Peugeot 106 Rallye in the RS 1.4 class. After three seasons comes the leap into the Italian Mountain Speed Championship, where he immediately wins the Italian RS 1.4 class title, a success repeated in 2023.
Talents and Superclimb
In 2023 the driver from Luzzo also stands out in the GT Talent, an international competition with around 3,000 participants, winning the selection on the Tazio Nuvolari circuit and finishing among the best twelve. In 2024 he moved to the Italian Super Climb Championship with a Mini Cooper JCW RSTB 1.6, winning the category title with one race to spare.
Towards the 2026 season
In the last season Mondino raced in Super Climb with a Mini Cooper JCW RSTB 2.0, accumulating experience despite a fluctuating year. At the 2025 Bacci Master Show he finished second in class and set the Sarno track record for a Mini with Nankang tyres.
The 2026 program includes participation in the seven stages of the Italian Superclimb Championship, with the aim of fighting for the Racing Start Turbo title in the RSTB 2.0 class. Gretaracing, in synergy with Scuderia Cosenza Corse, will accompany Mondino throughout the entire season.
