The State Police proceeded to arrest a 24-year-old Neapolitan man held responsible for the crime of receiving stolen goods.
During the ordinary control services of the territory, the operators of the Villa San Giovanni police station noticed, in Piazza Valsesia, a subject who, at their sight, with a suspicious attitude, was trying to move away quickly.
The young man, in transit in Villa San Giovanni and coming from Sicily, was promptly stopped and subjected to a police check, following which he was found in possession of several gold jewels and a sum of cash exceeding three thousand euros, in banknotes of various denominations, hidden inside the backpack he was carrying with him.
The activity of the policemen of the Villa San Giovanni police station, with the collaboration of personnel from the General Prevention and Public Rescue Office of the Messina Police Headquarters, made it possible to ascertain that part of the assets found were the proceeds of a complex scam recently perpetrated in Messina against an elderly couple with the ruse of the fake policeman.
Accompanied to the premises of the police station and subsequently identified by personnel of the Regional Scientific Police Office of Reggio Calabria, the young man was arrested as a suspect of a crime for receiving stolen goods with an obligation to reside in the municipality of residence.
