«The conference of mayors is 100% confirmed: it will be held tomorrow at 12 in the council chamber of the Town Hall». The mayor of Vibo Valentia is determined and firm in his positions, Enzo Romeo, who does not intend to review the convocation of the assembly of the mayors following the doubts of legitimacy raised in recent days. As stated several times during the election campaign, Romeo, among his first actions as mayor, wants to turn the spotlight back on healthcare, bringing to the table the discussion of the Decree of the Commissioner ad acta 92/2024 regarding the distribution of the regional fund, which would involve a cut of 10 million for the Vibo Valentia area. A delicate issue, which in recent days has been animating the political and civic debate. The convocation of the conference of mayors has raised doubts, in particular, in the provincial coordinator and group leader in the Regional Council of Forza Italia, Michael Comito, who said he considered the convocation “illegitimate”: “It would have been enough to read the statute of the Conference – Comito declared – to understand how it is up to the president to convene and preside over it; a president who, once the previous one has expired, must be nominated by the assembly itself as the head of the Representative Committee. We are not aware that an assembly has already been held to elect the new bodies; and therefore we are not aware that there is a president elected in place of the former mayor of Vibo Valentia, Mary Limardo. So to convene the Conference, and even to sign it with the title of president, is a grave error in form and substance.”
