A nightmare afternoon that lived yesterday in Taverna, a hamlet of Montalto Uffugo, where a vast fire broke out from the brushwood on the edge of the Mediterranean A2 motorwaytransforming itself into an uncontrollable fury of flames and smoke that has devoured cars, structures and cultivated fields. According to a first summary reconstructions, still in the assessment phase, the stake would have started from the dry brushwood adjacent to the roadway. From there, fed by the torrid heat and a slight wind, the fire quickly spread towards the private properties that arise in the immediate vicinity of Salerno-Reggio.
The languages of fire quickly reached the autopor of a mechanical workshop located right near the track destroying about fifteen cars. Some of them, new, with electric motor were on display for the sale. The others instead were there for maintenance or repairs.
