The last week of the Horcynus Festival is underway which, for this XXIII edition, has as its theme “Utopias, dystopias, eutopias”.
Of particular interest in recent days have been The Jurnate of the Design3 -day workshop by the Komad collective that was born from a group of internationally level designers, statutoryly recognized by the Messina Foundation, which involves young people and designers, to transform visions into real projects in Sicily and beyond.
The preparation of the exhibition of prototypes created for the design week and exhibited during the HF are the result of the collaboration with the Grifal company.
Gaetano junta of the Messina Foundation, he explains: “The HF is a festival organic to the development and overall evolution of the district. Three days dedicated to design, which accompany the productions of the district and which tell stories of solidarity and environmental justice. These days have the aim of outlining the birth of the permanent design center, which will be hosted at the Horcynus Orca park, on the upper floor of the shot on the fly. An international pole and a meeting place between designers around the world. The Messina Foundation is also committed to supporting human development strategies of internal areas: Mirabella Uncino, Roccavaldina and Novara of Sicily are the main spatial polarities. Precisely in Novara di Sicilia, a territory full of humanity and biodiversity, we operate as a yeast to generate a fruitful socio-economic system. In fact, 17 youth and solidarity companies are born and they are developing by creating a new vital fabric open to contemporary “.
Just in Novara di Sicilia will take place two significant events of the HF, both hosted in the S. Antonino square: Wednesday 6 August at 9.00 pm the art installation will be inaugurated I see Made by Francesca Borgia and, to follow, the concert Suspended time of Riccardo J. Moretti, accompanied by the performer Thierry Parmentier; On Monday 11 August at 9.30 pm the finissage of I see The installation of Francesca Borgia and, following, the Faisal Taher concert accompanied by the percussionist Riccardo Gerbino.
Giacomo Farina, artistic director together with Franco Jannuzzi, declares: “The last week of the Horcynus Festival sees, alongside the cinematographic proposals, the usual multidisciplinary programming with a dislocation of events also in Novara di Sicilia and Forte Petrazza. In particular, in Novara di Sicilia we will organize three multidisciplinary events linked by the common thread of creative refinement. We will bring Riccardo J. Moretti, for nine years musical director of the Bolshoi theater in Moscow, who will be joined by Thierry Parmentier, a historic first dancer of the Maurice Bejart company and then we will also have Faisal Taher, among the most appreciated Mediterranean singers, wrapped in the deep and painful elaboration of the art installation of Francesca Borgia, dedicated to the small victims of all the wars. magnificence of the creation that perhaps we will find the solution to our conflicts, so the poetic-musical performance of Gianni Fortunato Pisani and Giovanni Alibrandi will accompany us on 10 August at the inauguration of the Astronomical Observatory of Forte Petrazza “.
The mayor of Novara di Sicilia, Gino Bertolami, adds: “Thanks to the HF we welcome appointments, an event that stands out for the ability to combine art, critical thinking and social commitment. After the Horcynus Orca 2025 prize in the memory of the great director Carlos Saura, Thursday 7 August, the awards will be awarded to Luciano Carrino and the memory of Franco Basaglia and Franco Rotelli for the Social. During this evening, the musical critic Enrico Vita, recently who disappeared, will also be remembered.
Among the guests of the Festival there are also the director Paolo Benvenuti on the evening scheduled for Friday 8 August.
