Yesterday, Wednesday 29 October 2025, two separate reclamation interventions were carried out in the villages of Catarratti and Bisconte, with particular attention to the popular settlements most exposed to the phenomenon of illegal landfills. Despite the appeals made several times by MessinaServizi Bene Comune and the Municipal Administration, uncivilized behaviors persist which generate serious environmental damage and involve a huge waste of human and economic resources, as well as forcing numerous residents to live with unseemly situations.
“The most serious damage is that such attitudes, to all intents and purposes criminal, are repeated cyclically – declares Councilor Nino Carreri – under the eyes of many citizens forced to suffer the incivility of a few”. The municipal administration, making use of MessinaServizi Bene Comune as an operational structure and with the support of the Municipal Environmental Police, continues to tackle this phenomenon with determination, thanks also to the raising of numerous sanctions and reports to the judicial authority for environmental crimes.
“Those who think they can get away with it will be disappointed – continues Carreri – because the investigative activity of the Municipal Police is incessant and is leading to the identification of those responsible filmed by the camera traps installed in various areas of the city. I want to express sincere thanks to the Municipal Environmental Police and to MessinaServizi, led by President Mariagrazia Interdonato, for their constant commitment to taking care of the city, without forgetting the many honest citizens who regularly pay the fee and correctly dispose of separated waste”. The Administration reiterates that it will continue to maintain high attention on combating environmental degradation, strengthening the tools of supervision and repression and promoting, at the same time, behavior that respects the environment and civil life.
