Three companies in Catania and one in the province of Agrigento, operating in the sector of collection, transformation and trade of ferrous material have been subjected to preventive seizure.
The provision, carried out by personnel from the Messina Railway Police Section and the PGI della Police section at the Prosecutor’s Office, at the end of a complex investigation carried out jointly and coordinated by the District Anti -Mafia Directorate.
It is assumed to be paid by the four companies and 49 investigated an activity organized for the illicit trafficking of metal scrap between the provinces of Messina and Cataniain violation of the environmental obligations and tracing of current waste, substantiated in a plurality of conduct of collection, transport, assignment and conferment of large quantities, between May and September 2022. All some elements that emerged during the investigations lead to believe that the illegal activity can trace 2020.
The investigative activity made it possible to hypothesize the associative crime in order to commit an indeterminate series of environmental crimes.
