Two entrepreneurs, two officials from the Prefecture of Crotone, a State Police agent, a lawyer and four foreigners. They are the protagonists of the alleged network that would have facilitated the illegal entry into Italy of non-EU citizens. The Crotone Prosecutor’s Office discovered this with the investigation conducted by the Digos police which has now been closed against ten people. Prosecutor Umberto Iurlaro accuses them of various charges of aiding and abetting illegal immigration, revealing official secrets and personal aiding and abetting.

The names of the people involved

The accused include Tommaso Iannuzzi (31 years old, from Cariati), owner of the construction company “Eco Green Management” in Rocca di Neto; the entrepreneur Peppino Petrone (51, Latina); the lawyer Fabio Lucà (40, Crotone); Ardit Bardho (32, Albanian resident in Botricello) and Nicola Borza (44, Cotronei), employees of the One Stop Shop for immigration of the Prefecture of Crotone; Domenico Cataldo Nigro (55, Cirò Marina), deputy superintendent of the administrative team of the Pasi Division of the Crotone Police Headquarters; Simon Ridge Molinaro (29, German resident in Rocca di Neto); Md Ai Amin (29, resident in Terni); Mohammed Raton (47, resident in Rome); and Mohammed Walid (39, resident in Terni), all three from Bangladesh.

The mechanism of fake clearances

According to the investigators, the creators of the hypothesized fraudulent system were Iannuzzi and Petrone. The latter, on behalf of “Eco Green Management of Tommaso Iannuzzi”, in the years 2023-2024 would have requested the authorization for subordinate work of foreigners 93 times, of which 85 in 2024, facilitating the irregular arrival in our country of immigrants who, once in possession of the visa, would never have gone to the prefectural offices to regularize their position but would have lost their traces and then presented themselves at the police headquarters of the city where they intended to apply for a residence permit for subordinate work.

The role of professionals and public officials

Instead, the lawyer Fabio Lucà must answer for having favored (in 2023) the illegal stay in Italy of Mohammed Raton, Mohammed Walid and Md Ai Amin by “falsely certifying” – writes the prosecutor – that the three foreigners were employees of “Eco Green Management of Tommaso Iannuzzi”, despite the fact that they had never gone to the Prefecture to sign the employment residence contract. Which was subsequently signed with the same company for a few months.

This explains the charges leveled against Ardit Bardho and Nicola Borza of the Prefecture for not having revoked the work permit of the three non-EU citizens, while Molinaro is accused of having told Iannuzzi that he was being investigated in light of the information he received from the policeman Nigro.

Applause from Wanda Ferro

«I applaud the Digos investigators and the police commissioner Renato Panvino for the brilliant operation» commented the Undersecretary of the Interior, Wanda Ferro. Who added that it is necessary to “maintain high attention in the fight against illegal immigration”.
