In Messina the presentation of the film on the life of Omayma, the story of the young mediator killed by her husband tonight at Lux

After obtaining important awards at the Afrobrix Festival in Brescia and at the Sedicicorto Film Festival in Forlì, the short film “Omayma” will be presented today in Messinaduring a special hosted event at Cinema Lux, as part of the Circoli Film Festival. The public will be able to see it (with free entry and subject to availability) at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
The work of Messina director Fabio Schifilliti tells the story of Omayma Benghaloum, the Tunisian cultural mediator brutally killed by her husband Faouzi Dridi in September 2015 in Messina. The event in Messina, organized on the occasion of the International Day against Violence against Women, is organized with the support of the companies Acqua Cavagrande and Caffè Barbera.

Yesterday, again at the Cinema Lux, the exhibition entitled “Generazione Mai Più” was inaugurated: an exhibition of storyboards and film posters created by the children of the Basile high school who also worked on the screenplay of Omayma under the guidance of the teachers Michela De Domenico and Antonio Ciancio. Following this, a preview screening of the short film took place for the students.
The filmwhich it was shot in the city of the Strait, between Lake Ganzirri and the port area, and in the suggestive medina of Mazara del Valloin the Trapani area, is produced by the Arknoah Association of Messina (executive production by Francesco Torre).

The protagonist is played by the well-known Tunisian actress Mariam Al Ferjani. The cast is made up of Hossein Taheri, a Tunisian theatre, television and film actor who has made several films and also worked in Italy for Checco Zalone, in the role of Faouzi; M’Barka Ben Taleb will be Fatma; Sara Abbes will be Rania and Giulia Migliardi will play her daughter Esra. The screenplay was created by Paolo Pintacuda and Fabio Schifilliti.

The short film, already highly appreciated at a national level, was made as part of the “Sensi Contemporanei Cinema” program with the support of the Sicilian Region – Department of Tourism, Sport and Entertainment and Tourism Department and the Sicilia Film Commission. The production was supported by the University of Messina, the Società Editrice Sud-Gazzetta del Sud, the National Council of Notaries, the Metropolitan City of Messina, the Lions Club Messina Tyrrhenum, the Rotary Club Messina, the Soroptimist International of Italy -Club Messina and Salvatore Totaro, with the collaboration of “Life Solution”.
