Large green spaces, a commercial area, another residential area and a square that becomes an identity in a natural path of union with the Southern Linear Park. The ecological redevelopment project of the space that hosts the abandoned railway assets in the area of the “Oreste Granillo” Stadium.

The idea, created by the “Studio Cartolano – engineering company” as part of the “National innovative program for the quality of living”, the so-called “PinQua”, was illustrated by the engineer Domenico Cartolano to the mayor Giuseppe Falcomatà and to the councillor Domenico Battaglia, during a session dedicated to the project and in which city managers and councilors also took part.

«With the PinQua – explained Falcomatà – we will redevelop another area of the city, this time in the southern part. We thought of a place connected to the linear park that is also able to interpret the natural sporting destination of the area which , in addition to the stadium and the Scatolone, the redevelopment works of the municipal swimming pool and the “Balloon” are underway.

In the former railway area, therefore, an important urban park will be built, a residential complex and a beautiful square, connected to the territory, which will be able to host commercial spaces which, in our idea, can become a modern market to offer typical products of the local craftsmanship as happens in the largest European metropolises, where the ancient market areas are points of sharing, aggregation and recovery of traditions”.

«The production times are very tight – he explained – because the project is part of the Pnrr programming to be completed by 2026. The design was shared with Invitalia and, therefore, in addition to the project which is in the definitive phase, the company that was awarded the works already exists ».

«Naturally – concluded the mayor Giuseppe Falcomatà – it is a path that we want to share with the citizens and, before arriving at the executive step, we will present the project idea to the city to collect, from the voice of the neighborhoods in which it will be carried out the intervention, possible ideas and suggestions capable of integrating with the final proposal”.
