The meeting “Companies and insurance obligations for natural catastrophes” held this morning in the Confcommercio hall aimed at examining the new legislation on insurance for natural catastrophes was well attended. The seminar, with a very concrete approach, proved to be very useful for entrepreneurs to understand the regulatory data, the obligations that must be complied with by December 31st and the methods of protecting their activities from the risks associated with natural events.
The meeting, strongly supported by the president of Confcommercio Lorenzo Labate and the director Fabio Giubilofeatured experts of primary importance as speakers as well as valuable Confcommercio partners such as Giuseppe ScutellàAgent Generali Agency Corso Garibaldi Reggio Calabria e Giuseppe Aquilino Enegan provincial account manager, who contributed to offering a clear and detailed overview of the available solutions.
In the presence of the president of the Chamber of Commerce Antonino Tramontana, which underlined the value of the initiative for the local entrepreneurial fabric, drawing attention to the importance of a culture of prevention in a context of increasingly evident climate change, Giuseppe Scutellà and Mauro Pitrone, technical fire inspector of Generali Italia, provided a valuable technical contribution on the legislation introduced by the 2024 Budget Law, which obliges companies – with the exclusion of agricultural activities – to take out insurance policies to cover damage caused by natural disasters by 31 December 2024.
The legislation provides for insurance coverage of land, buildings, plants and industrial equipment, with the aim of securing production activities against earthquakes, floods, landslides and other environmental emergencies. Failure to comply with these provisions makes it impossible for companies to access public funds and benefits, thus penalizing businesses that do not comply with the new measures. It was also recalled that insurance companies are required to guarantee the possibility of taking out these policies, under penalty of sanctions from IVASS.
During the meeting, Giuseppe Aquilino of Enegan Energia presented an in-depth analysis of sustainable energy solutions, an increasingly strategic topic for companies with a view to competitiveness and reducing environmental impact.
