This time Francesco Bagnaia doesn’t succeedLike this his friend and rival Jorge Martin takes the scepter away from him and becomes MotoGP World Champion for the first time (second career title after the one in Moto3 in 2018). He does it in the last round of the season in Barcelona, despite the perfect weekend with the Italian’s eleventh victory aboard the Lenovo Ducati (equaled by Valentino Rossi in 2002 and 2005). Never before, however, have the eight seasonal withdrawals between Sprints and long races weighed so heavily on Pecco, while Martinator’s greater consistency (only three ‘zeros) certainly made the difference. It is therefore the bitterest career success for the Turin born in 1997, while for the Madrid native who is a year younger it is the sweetest third place, which consecrates him as the new King of the premier two-wheel class. Bagnaia’s start is perfect and allows him to maintain the leadership, followed by his rival Martin who gains two positions at the start. Immediately behind was Marc Marquez who overtook his compatriot at the start of the second lap, then a super Bastianini who, like yesterday, immediately made a big leap forward. However, Pecco’s teammate doesn’t seem to be able to keep the pace and, also due to a long run on the eighth lap, he slips back to eighth place. Marquez is the only one who seems to be able to put constant pressure on Bagnaia, Martin on the other hand manages third position without overdoing it, also having his back protected by his close friend Espargaro, engaged in a duel with Alex Marquez. In the final part of the race practically nothing happens anymore: Bagnaia remains firmly in the lead with Marquez unable to attack him, Martin on the other hand holds on to third place and defends the 10 point lead over Pecco which allows him to take the title.
