On the evening of December 10th, on State Road 106 near the Hotel San Giorgio, a tragic accident involved a 28-year-old of Burkinabe origins, hit by a hit-and-run car while crossing the road: he had just gotten off a bus with a friend when the impact occurred. The officers of the Crotone Traffic Police intervened promptly on the spotwho found the young man on the ground in serious condition and provided first aid while waiting for the 118 ambulance to arrive.

The injured man was transported to the civil hospital of Crotone, where he was diagnosed with fractures and injuries that would heal in 30 days, barring complications.

The investigations, coordinated by the Director of the Crotone Traffic Police Section, Dr. Erica Lavecchia, made it possible to trace the person responsible as early as 11 December, after intense investigative activity. This is a 20-year-old resident of Isola Capo Rizzuto. The young man, driving a vehicle with power exceeding the limit allowed for his license (63.53 kW versus the 55 kW required), had fled without providing assistance. He was reported at liberty for failure to help and escape following a road accident.

The car, damaged in the accident, was found hidden in an alley in the “300 accommodation” district of Crotone. The damage found on the vehicle was found to be compatible with the investment. The passenger of the car, a 19-year-old, was also reported.

The motorist, faced with the evidence collected by the investigators, admitted his responsibilities. The judicial authorities have initiated the appropriate proceedings in the case.
