The Israeli army said it launched an airstrike in the southern Gaza Strip to eliminate “five terrorists who emerged from a Rafah tunnel on the eastern side of the Yellow Line” under IDF control. “The terrorists were approaching the troops, posing an imminent threat to them,” adds the IDF.

“We are very close to completing this process and once that is the case we will reopen the crossing,” Netanyahu told Israeli media. The prime minister of the Jewish state added that, once all the hostages have been returned and the crossing is reopened, he will be “very happy to see Egypt allow any inhabitant of Gaza who wants to leave to do so, because this has never happened until today. Any inhabitant of Gaza who wants to leave – explained Netanyahu – should be able to do so, and this right has been denied to him”.
