Rende marks a decisive turning point in the path of the Union of Municipalities. After the announcement by the mayor Sandro Principe, the administrative machine has worked tirelessly: in these hours it is the municipal secretary, Di Talia, who is finalizing and supervising the draft of the Statute, now ready to be sent tomorrow to the Municipalities of Cosenza, Castrolibero and Montalto Uffugo. A step that marks the formal start of a political and administrative project which, in the intentions of the promoters, represents the most solid antidote to possible fusionist backfires. How will the Union of Municipalities be organised? The draft Statute defines an institutional structure designed to be flexible, inclusive and capable of growing over time. The model is that of a “variable geography” governance, which allows the participation of Municipalities outside the urban area for individual services, without obligations of total participation.
