Siderno and Locride were the protagonists of a major sporting event over the past weekend: the women’s and men’s Sitting Volleyball Italian Cup which took place at the Siderno sports hall.
A one-of-a-kind show that combined sport and social inclusion and which saw Dream Volley Pisa triumph for the women and Santi Ortopedie Nola for the men. The Tuscan team, in which the Calabrian champion Raffaela Battaglia plays, beat Cedacri Gioco Parma with a score of 3-1 (17-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-19).
The Campania team beat the Fermana Volleyball School 3-0 with the following partials: 25-23, 25-17, 25-18. In the women’s competition, third place went to the I Santi Ortopedie Nola team, which prevailed over the Diasorin Fenera Chieri team in the 3-4 place final.
In the men’s competition, the 3-4 place final was won by Gas Sales Bluenergy SV: the Emilians beat the Piedmontese side Acqua San Bernardo Cuneo.
Various institutional stakeholders participated in the event, organized by the Italian Volleyball Federation together with Fipav Calabria. Among these, the federal councilor Marco Mari, the president of Fipav Calabria, Carmelo Sestito, the president of Fipav RC, Domenico Panuccio, the president of CIP Calabria, Antonello Scagliola, the provincial delegate of CONI, Salvatore Papa, the regional councilor for Sport, Eulalia Micheli, the municipal councilor of Siderno delegate for Sport, Davide Lurasco, the councilor of the Municipality of Locri, Domenica Bumbaca. Also present were various local associations particularly active in sports and social issues.
