It’s not a match like the others, it won’t be like that this time either. An inevitable rivalry dictated by the territorial proximity and fueled by the football traditions of two teams with a great past such as Igea and Milazzo, the most important in the province together with Messina.
Today two teams face each other on the pitch with the honor of their colours, with the wealth of past they represent. Two fans, two cities. Also two technical projects, two companies that have built credible projects starting from different assumptions. Two realities that also in this commitment will be able to test where they are in the development path towards their respective objectives.
Igea Virtus started the season with the ambition of wanting to be the loose cannon, the killjoy, but soon found itself standing at the top, fighting for the top. Thanks to the work of sporting director Agatino Chiavaro, of the technical staff led by an extraordinary Sasà Marra (he will return soon to speak in conferences, also to take proper credit for the work he is doing), of the team group and of a management that has found unity and enthusiasm again with the return of Immacolato Bonino. Savoia, Nissa and Reggina will not give up but Igea, even with its quality improvements in the winter market, has sent a clear signal: we are here.
Milazzo continues to reiterate that the only objective remains salvation. But today the playoffs are only one point away and if this were to be the situation in a few months, why not try? The rossoblù club faced this championship as newly promoted but with caution, reasoning and a lot of work today they can afford to play this challenge from another perspective.
It will be a high-class derby and it’s beautiful like that. With a crowd that promises to be super and hopefully characterized by fairness as in the previous two seasons. The field will issue a verdict but outside Igea and Milazzo have already won, although they will need to confirm.
