The announcement with a video on social media: Jannik Sinner ends the 2026 season. The South Tyrolean champion has decided to stop and will thus also miss the ATP Finals in Turin. The physical problems and the inflammation in his knee are not allowing him an effective recovery to best face the end of the season and so here is the official decision.

On the advice of his medical staff, Jannik Sinner will undergo treatment for knee inflammation. It has been decided, his management informs, to carry out the treatment now to give Sinner the necessary time to recover before starting preparations for 2027.

“I have to think about my long-term career and get back to 100%”

«The season is officially over, my staff and I have decided that my knee needs further treatment. I have to think about my long-term career and get back to 100%.” In a video posted on social media Jannik Sinner explains the reasons why he will only return to the field next year, therefore skipping all the end-of-season events, including the ATP Finals. «The ending of the last few seasons, especially in Turin, gave me wonderful emotions and feelings – adds Sinner -, this year will be different, given that I have to think about my long-term career. I will do everything I can to get back to 100%. Thank you for your support and we hope to see you again on the pitch soon. We have decided that my knee needs therapy, this means that my 2026 is officially over.”
