“Vermiglio” by Maura Delpero and “Mon Inséparable” by Anne-Sophie Bailly win the fourteenth Sorriso Diverso Venezia Award, a collateral prize at the Film Festival assigned to the films of the festival with the greatest social value, both in and out of competition.

An event that brings elements of serious reflection to the glamour of the festival and this year has awarded stories with a focus on family realities and problems, which see women as protagonists of important changes. This is underlined by the biologist Paola Tassone, from Caulonia Marina in Reggio, artistic director of the award and creator of the social cinema festival “Tulipani di Seta Nera”, of which Sorriso Diverso Venezia Award is an offshoot: «In the selected films, it is mostly women who subvert the canons and support innovative ideas by breaking down stereotypes. Important characters to see and discuss, to orient oneself on topics such as gender violence and war».

A collaboration, the one with the Film Festival, that is being consolidated year after year. «Thanks to the director Alberto Barbera and the new president of the Biennale Pietrangelo Buttafuoco we are increasingly becoming a collateral award. – continues Tassone – It is a highly sought-after recognition especially by young directors, because obtaining an award of this kind in the field of social criticism is another added value to this great film event».

The winning titles were chosen by a jury of experts chaired by the critic Catello Masullo (president of Cinecircolo Romano) and composed of Paola Dei (art psychologist), Franco Mariotti (National Union of Italian Film Journalists), Massimo Nardin (director), Rossella Pozza (vice-president of Cinecircolo Romano), Armando Lostaglio (president of Cineclub Vittorio De Sica of Rionero in Vulture) and, in addition, Paola Dalla Torre (film scholar and associate professor at Lumsa), Ira Nohemi Medina Fronten (actress) and Antonio Castaldo (journalist).

The godfather of the ceremony was actor Marco Bonini, supported by actress Beatrice Luzzi as Testimonial of Social Resilience.

Awarded with the Sorriso Diverso for Sustainable Tourism Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio, president of Fondazione UniVerde, promoter of a spot on the subject. Created by Università Cerca Lavoro in collaboration with Dream On, chaired by Diego Righini, Sorriso Diverso Venezia Award is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Rai for ESG Sustainability.
