The III Directorate “Metropolitan Roads” of the Metropolitan City of Messina, with order. n.2/2024, in consideration of the request for variation to the closure of a section of the SP n.180 made by the Mayor of Lipari and the Head of the Civil Protection Service, has ordered, in addition to the previous ordinance, the closure to transit of the SP n.180 from Km 6+600 to Km 7+300 is with the exception: – residents of the Acquacalda hamlet of the Municipality of Lipari, driving cars or two-wheeled vehicles; – minibuses, for the exclusive service of residents of the Acquacalda hamlet, with a full load mass of less than 3.5 t; who will be able to proceed, in the section in question, in an alternating one-way direction.
The competent Technical Services of the Municipality of Lipari will carry out continuous monitoring of the slope and will ensure the immediate closure of the road – also with a Civil Protection order – if the evolution of the instability could be a potential cause of infrastructure instability and in the event of weather events exceptional.
Furthermore, the III Directorate “Metropolitan Roads” recommends reducing the traffic flow on the SP 180 from Km 6+600 to Km 7+100 to a minimum and only for special needs, by residents of the Acquacalda hamlet.
As an alternative route, we suggest using the SP 179 of Piano Conti (LipariQuattropani) continuing on the SP 181/b of Quattropani – Acquacalda and vice versa.
