He’s one of the old guard. Who apparently was part of the fire group of the first republic of Cosa Nostra in Barcelona. Now, those thirty-year-olds of the past are all around sixty. So he must know a lot of things if since the 80s and 90s he began to frequent the historic mafia group that “governed” in Barcelona and along the entire Tyrrhenian axis, having regular relations with Catania and Palermo.
One of the old guard who has decided to join the justice system and according to rumors has been filling out several reports for a few weeks before the magistrates of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate coordinated by Messina’s chief prosecutor Antonio D’Amato.
There is therefore a new turncoat in the ranks of the Barcelona Cosa Nostra, who could bring a notable contribution of additional knowledge regarding many facts that still remain submerged. Although a lot has been done from the 90s to today with the sequence of “Gotha” operations, which in practice eliminated the Barcelona mafia organization by sending all the recognized leaders to the “41 bis” queen.
The context in which this new collaboration with justice would have matured would be that – very little of the story has yet transpired – of one of the last anti-mafia operations carried out by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Messina and the Carabinieri of the ROS.

That is, in January 2024, the re-reading of thirteen murders that were not yet completely clarified due to the blood chain of the Cosa Nostra in Barcelona in the 1990s, the mafia war that left dozens of corpses on the streets, many of which disappeared and were never found again. On January 10, 2024, a new light opened, thanks to the declarations of the Barcelonan repentant Salvatore Micale, who told his truth to the DDA magistrates of Messina for months.

He indicated the instigators and authors of those death sentences decreed very often only to punish some “boys” who had made mistakes according to the canons of the mafia family, carrying out thefts in “protected” houses or dealing outside the traditional “ring” governed by the group, without asking for any authorization. The main part of this operation, almost all the defendants chose the abbreviated procedure, ended in the first instance trial last January before the magistrate Arianna Raffa with a series of heavy sentences, including life imprisonment for the boss Giuseppe Gullotti.
