The mafias control the territories, monitor areas, have them garrisoned, build secret places. However, “they exercise real control over the bodies.” It is the assumption from which the Reggio activist Celeste Costantino starts in “Predatori”, whose subtitle is “Sex and violence in the mafia”, in the certainty that knowing the sexuality of organized crime, which has no codes of honor, as is clarified in the book, means having a privileged lens to discover its weak points and identify its fragilities. The author, former MP from Sel, vice-president of the “Una Quale Centomila” Foundation, rigorously delves into the thicket of harassment (and abuse of minors), sexual exploitation and rape, also indicating a precise relationship between patriarchal culture and the mafia.
